PLEASE NOTE: Due to the fact that certain haunted houses simply couldn’t resist the urge to try to cheat and stuff the ballot box in their own favor (yes, we know who you are), HHC did away with the People’s Choice Vote during the 2011 season. The idea was to let the public vote for their favorites; what we saw was haunted houses paying people to do a technical end-run around our system. Rather than see this feature abused to mislead our site users, HauntedHouseChicago.com had to kill the feature.

The HHC Official Review Team visits 40+ haunted houses and events, as a group, each season and compares them all to each other, then the members of the team deliberate and debate their top choices, finally agreeing on the Top 13 for the season. This makes for far more informed reviews and ratings. The Review Team is headed by Kris Zahrobsky, who founded HauntedHouseChicago.com in 1999 and has been reviewing haunted houses for 25 years! With a love of all things haunted, a knowledge of the history of haunted houses in Chicagoland and his yearly trek to see as many haunted houses as he can, Kris knows Chicagoland’s haunted attractions!
