Insanity Haunted House

Another new face to the family this year is Insanity Haunted House tucked away inside Charlestown Mall in St. Charles, IL. While the mall may have many vacant spaces, this almost adds a creepy setup/”Dawn of the Dead” mall scene! As we entered the attraction, we waited in a heavy fogged waiting area, lit by black lights. As creatures roamed about, giving us a preview of what was inside. We began the evening in their “rules” room, where a life-sized portrait came to life and told us of the terror that was held deep within its walls, just waiting for us to enter. Here, a young woman dressed in a white gown also informed us of a few other rules, and her acting was spot on. She definitely got her point across!
Weaving in and out, room after room, we came upon scenes that included were the bedroom and the closet (beware of the monsters hiding in there!). But one of the rooms we enjoyed the most was that of the clowns.
Here, we encountered probably one of the smallest actors ever in a haunted attraction, and you would never guess that he was just a mere 10-years-old! His character, Squints the Clown, crawled on the ground and sprawled out in front of you anywhere you tried to walk. With his evil little laugh, it definitely was a great way to end the show!
The Bottom Line: For a first year attraction, they definitely started out on the right foot. With their actors being spot on with their attacks and witty banter, we have no doubt that in the upcoming years, we are going to see big things from this attraction!
