ABYSS Horror Zone

To begin, we say congratulations to the ABYSS team for being able to successfully open for the 2014 season! Formerly located in Channahon, IL, they have moved to Sport Zone Park in Aurora, IL. You may see the large white dome from the side out of the road, but have no fear, this attraction remains an outdoor one as in years past!

For their new stomping grounds, the ABYSS crew has assembled three different attractions.

The first of the attractions is named, “Sons of ABYSS, Insane Lane Go-Karts”, which as you can tell is taking a spin on the go-karts that the park has to offer. Be warned, that you never know who may start chasing you! It is quite a fun time and for those with a faint of heart, you may not be prepared for what’s lurking in the dark! The HHC team actually witnessed actors and actresses in costume continuing the chase on the track in go-karts!

The second attraction is entitled, “Zombie Zone.” Here, patrons can belly up to the zombie paintball range and try their hand at shooting both live zombies and stationary targets. (And from what we saw, they definitely can be very clever!)

Last but not least is their namesake iconic attraction, ABYSS Haunted House. Taking over the mini-golf course, small scenes are scattered over a terrain that includes hills, winding paths, and water! Scenes flowed nicely, as we ventured on through the trail approaching actors and actresses lurking inside awaiting our arrival.

As in years past, ABYSS has several stand-out scenes that leave the most lasting impressions. This year, the female-run hillbilly house, gatekeeper, and an old favorite fireplace room made us even happier this attraction isn’t going anywhere soon.

The Bottom Line: The new home for ABYSS definitely had its challenges for them, but you can’t hold a good crew down. This attraction is definitely family-friendly and will deliver a great time for scream-seekers of all ages!
