Duchess Manor Haunted House
Duchess Manor Haunted House will open Saturday, September 19, at The Arboretum of South Barrington, inviting guests into an unsettling estate where nothing is quite as it seems.
Open Fridays through Sundays through November 1, Duchess Manor offers two distinctly different walkthrough experiences designed to make the season memorable for guests of all ages. Families and younger visitors can explore the house during Lights On, a kid-friendly, lower-intensity experience offered Saturdays and Sundays from 2–5 p.m. With the lights on and the scares turned down, guests can take in the detailed rooms, eerie atmosphere and theatrical elements in a more approachable way.
For those looking for the full haunted-house experience, Duchess Manor’s Full Scare walkthrough brings the estate to life with darkness, suspense and unexpected encounters. Full Scare is offered Fridays and Saturdays from 7–11 p.m. and Sundays from 6–10 p.m.
The story of Duchess Manor begins with its reclusive owner, the Duchess, who withdrew from the outside world and into the walls of her grand estate. Over time, isolation gave way to madness. Strange voices travel through the halls, mirrors seem to hold more than reflections, and the house itself appears to be waking up around its guests. The Duchess may still be alive, but she is far from sane.
Guests will move through a series of immersive scenes as they uncover the disturbing history hidden inside the manor. From unsettling dining rooms and shadowy corridors to rooms that seem to shift and move, Duchess Manor combines theatrical storytelling, detailed sets and live scares to create a chilling fall experience in the heart of South Barrington.
“Duchess Manor is meant to be a fun way for the community to celebrate the Halloween season together,” said Rick Heidner. “We wanted to create an experience with something for everyone, from families looking for a daytime outing to thrill-seekers ready for a true haunted-house scare.”
Located at The Arboretum of South Barrington, Duchess Manor makes it easy to pair a haunted-house visit with shopping, dining or a night out at the property. Whether guests choose the family-friendly Lights On walkthrough or dare to face the Full Scare experience, Duchess Manor offers a new Halloween tradition close to home.
