I went last night and they are correct it is an adventure. Even with it being a new house this year I thought all the actors did a great job with what they had to work with. All the rooms were decorations really nice. The spots for pop outs could've been filled more but I believe through the years they will get the hang out of and start to form into a house like statesville. I will definitely be attending hells gate next year again.

The best haunt in Chicagoland. From the producer of Statesville. The path to the house is very creepy and full of scares. Once in the house, the twins are incredible. Won't spoil the rest, be sure to go visit HellsGate!

I can’t sum up this haunt any better than Katie did. I would take away two stars from this haunt because the freight factor dissipates so drastically once you complete your walk through the woods and exit the first room. However, this haunt is so beautifully done with some fairly unique “attractions,” that is is worth going to if you are planning on seeing multiple haunts this season. I cannot recommend it if this is the only haunt you’ll see this year. I do believe this haunt phenomenal potential in the years to come as they better adapt scare tactics to blend in with the fantastic sets.

"Hells gate is not just a haunted house, its an adventure." This tagline could not be more accurate. The evening begins with a mile long bus ride, deep into the woods, until you finally arrive at the mansion grounds. The disappointing part and the reason I couldnt give Hells Gate 5 stars, is that the bumpy bus ride might be the scariest part of the whole adventure. Visually, Hells Gate is the most stunning haunted house I've ever been to. The amount of detail they put into the sets is remarkable. I walked through as slowly as possible to try and take everything in, so slowly in fact that the actors were yelling at me to walk faster to avoid "the danger that lurks in the house". As far as the scare factor though, it just wasnt there. Granted Im a seasoned vet of haunted houses and not much scares me, but I didnt even hear screams coming from other patrons. The atmosphere of the house is CREEPY, not scary. I was creeped out a few times (in the best possible way). So if youre looking to pee your pants with fright, this might not be the place, but if youre someone who can appreciate beautifully creepy imagery and a unique haunting experience, check out Hells Gate.
