Set inside the Lake Hills subdivision, is Lake Hills Haunted House located in St. John, IN. Many might think that this location isn’t the norm for a haunted attraction, but from the moment that you step on its grounds, you are transported into a whole different world.

What sets this attraction apart from others is that you have many of the classic scenes that can be found throughout a traditional haunted house.  But, Lake Hills puts their own classic spin and twist on things. All of the actors here are volunteer-based, but with their amount of focus and determination, you would never guess that. The amount of energy that they give off in every scene is remarkable.

As we made our way through the attraction, we weaved in and out of timeless scenes such as the operating room, funeral scene, and the clown room. One of our favorite rooms that we walk through is the kitchen. Down to the small details in here, they have an effect where the kitchen outlets have sparkers built into them that go off as you make your way through the kitchen. It definitely adds to the scene, and makes you feel like the outlets really are going to explode!

Another scene that we enjoy is that of the funeral scene.  Here, not only do the chairs move, but also the windows move up and down! With the eerie actors that are found within this room, it really is a great sight to see!

As we neared the last room of our tour, we encountered an actress named, “Smiley.” In true clown form, Smiley entertained us in a variety of ways. Since our group was split into two, we both got different experiences.  While one experiences normal clown banter, the other experiences whispers of torture and mutilation! Bravo!

As we ended our night, once again we had the honor of getting to spend some time with Michael Myers. Yes, throughout the entire season we encounter numerous Michael Myers’, Freddy Kruegers’ and even Jason Voorhees’, but the Michael here at Lake Hills Haunted House is the best that we have met to date.

From his walk, to the hand grip on the knife, and his stature is nearly perfect with the version from John Carpenter’s first Halloween movie. The way he lingers in the back and waits for you to notice him, and then disappears the next minute.  Always wondering where he is going to end up sends chills down our spine.  This year, Michael escorted us to our car, and in fact, got in to the drivers seat and took us for a drive around the parking lot. This was something we definitely didn’t see coming! The whole time driving, he never put down his knife either, talk about dedication!

The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a fun evening filled with thrills and chills, make sure that you stop at Lake Hills before the season ends! Make sure you say hello to Michael Myers too, we’re sure he’d love to make you his next victim!
