Returning for their second year of fright is Midnight Terror Haunted House in Oak, Lawn, IL. This year, they were ready to show what they learned in their freshmen year and come back even bigger and better. Now offering two attractions at its location, they were ready to shine bright and show them that they are ready to play with the big boys.

From the moment you pass the ticket booth, you are thrown into their world.  As actors roamed about, we encountered “Vile”, a creepy girl wandering about and “Cell 34,” a crazed maniac running rampant. (Make sure to get your camera ready, because these two are masters!) Be on the lookout for these two as they tended to pop up through-out the evening!

The first attraction is “Factory of Malum”, which is based upon a factory that was created & built upon the influence of a demon named, Malum.  The workers within have rioted and gone crazy and are ready to attack at any minute.  Weaving in and out through the rooms, actors attack from all angles, waiting for that perfect moment to strike fear within patrons’ hearts. Some of the characters were literally bouncing off the walls, climbing them, and even escaping through the ceiling!

Just when we thought we’ve escaped the mayhem of the factory, we come to the front entrance of a hospital.  Here, a patient sits in a wheelchair and warns us not to go inside, unless we know what’s good for us. The 2nd attraction, “Blackwood Hospital” is where many of the patients within its walls are from the factory. They are having hallucinations, seeing their phobias come to life and turning more violence as this happens. The Surgeon is now in charge and will kill anything… or anyone that gets in his way.

Before even entering the hospital, what appears to be the shadow of a nurse looming in the entrance hallway sets the tone for what  we are about to encounter inside.  Making our way through the hospital, we see numerous patients that have gone crazy.  One of the rooms that we enjoyed the detail in was that of the wall covered in syringes, and we mean top to bottom, covered.  It was beautiful and you can tell how much effort it took to create!

One last little surprise that they have for you is the ending to their attraction. You might call it a 3rd attraction, or at least one of the best closing scenes we have experienced. We never want to give too much away, but be prepared for an extremely entertaining visit with the “Northern Southeners,” a chainsaw gang of large men just waiting for their next victims. They will make sure that you leave running for your life!

The Bottom Line: In just its sophomore year, Midnight Terror definitely stepped up its game this year.  Making its first attraction longer and implementing a second one, this definitely showed that in just one year how much they have grown.  And to think, this is all because a 10 year-old boy once had a vision to open his own haunted house one day.  We are proud to see what you have created and look forward to see what the future has in store for this attraction! If all of this wasn’t enough to convince you to take a peek, please note that the owner is a veteran of the Marines and a loyal local soul of Oak Lawn. As he supports his community, it is absolutely worth it to support him!
