I had been to only one haunted house previously, and was told this was an "extreme house." Anybody can create a house with costumed people surprising/frightening people. Statesville is not that haunted house. Through use of props, sounds, and great employees, Statesville creates a creepy/frightening atmosphere and themes along with the things you would normally expect. The attention to detail in both props and staff was impeccable and this haunted house exceeded expectations.

I was throughly impressed with theStatesville Haunted Prison! I really enjoyed the individual themes to each room and how well choreographed the entire show was. I've been to Statesville in past years but I've never seen it done this well before. The cast and crew really seem to put every last ounce of energy into putting on a show. This one is definately not for little kids or the faint of heart.

I went to stateville haunted prison on saturday and I was very unimpressed. I felt that the scare tactics were very elementry and that in my own opinion the actors were not very beliveable. I have not been to every haunt in the Chicago land area but I feel that Statesville Haunted Prison and City of the dead was a waste of my money and time. I did not get scared even once.

Visiting Statesville terrified me!!! People jumping out at me from each side and even above - was difficult to continue through but somehow I did. If you are calm and together with everything you'll be fine -- but be ready for the unexpected --- hold on to the person in front of you, close your eyes and pray for the end. Good luck -------------- have fun.

I walked though the houses two weeks ago and I was very impressed with how well the actors stayed charactor. I was not scared, but i was very entertained. To start off with, in the wardens room I felt like I had jumped into a scary movie and the rest of the house proceeded with that feeling. The house had an eery touch though out it that made my hair stand up. Over all I was impressed.

statesville haunted prison is the scariest thing i have ever experienced in my life!! i screamed at every corner, and was scared for my life. It was well worth the money and i will definitley be returning. The props and the way it is set up makes it look very real. My favorite was the clowns. I am terrified of them, and thats what made it fun. There was one clown that was jumping on ropes all over the place, getting right into my face and i had never been so scared in my life. Big props to the clowns for kicking ass! What got me the most is when they came out of nowhere. I walked thru this one room where the girls were calling me pretty girl and it creeped me out! at the end there was a girl that came out of no where and got right up in my face! she had the creepiest laugh i have ever heard. I told my boyfriend, that made me piss myself. She made us go into a tunnel. And when i looked behind me, sure enough, there she was chasing us thru the tunnel screaming at me and twitching. I never ran so fast in my life! It was the best scare of the night. Overall, it was the best i have ever seen. And city of the dead was really good too. people popping out random places, and the actors talked in these weird voices and languages, it just made me wanna get out of there even faster. Great job you guys, keep up the good work And i will definitley be returning!

Statesville Haunted Prison is my favorite haunted house! From the time you get in line to the time you leave the parking lot you're entertained. All of the actors get completely into character and make sure to put on a great show. Every room you enter, and every corner you turn brings a new scare. Everyone there is highly focused on putting forth a spooktacular night full of tons of surprises. I know it sure scared me!

Really great acting and effects at this haunted house. The actors know how to run the house effectively, while also being dynamic in the ways of fearing. Not just shouting and banging things, but really pushing all different fear buttons.

I live 4 hours away so the website was very inviting. i was a litle disappointed when i pulled in..not realizing that this was not held in the actual prison...but i have to say it was an amazing experience from start to finish. the actors were amazing and the props and backgrounds were very well made. it was great. making statesville a halloween tradition from now on!!

Yeah it's a little bit of a drive, but it is well worth it. I definitely recommend upgrading to the VIP tickets because you don't want to wait for this haunted experience. The space was well done and the special effects were amazing. You get two unique haunted experiences too. Easily the best haunted house event in the Chicagoland area.

I went through about a week ago and I am still having nightmares. I believe this has been the best statesville has ever been. My favorite rooms had to been the crazy ward with all those freaky looking people, the clown room always get me special by that super tight walls, the showers room was unique and creative but the most freakest thing i saw was this big fat black guy on the bus. As soon as i got out of the trippy tunnel he ran towards me and then ran to this stick that made sparks fly. He made my girlfriend felled straight to the ground. I can not wait to see this house again next year.

went last night, the sheer size of the place was intimidating. labyrinthine halls and low, tight corridors served to really take you out of your comfort zone and prime you for the scares. the rooms were beautiful, in the way haunted house rooms should be. an enormous cast, and very creative, terrifying, often times disturbing themes. overall it was damned impressive, laflamboy and his crew really pulled out all the stops on this place. make-up and costume were phenomenal! my only complaint, and this is surprising since i am effing TERRIFIED of clowns...the clowns didn't scare me THAT much...they were too talkative...i expected them to just be creepier. city of the dead was a nice add on, i didn't even know about it till i got there. it was another labyrinthine, almost cave-like creation with what i assume were dead natives of some sort babbling gibberish-esque fake native tongues...black lights galore set a really trippy tone rather than a scary one... all in all i say a MUST SEE for any haunted house aficionado :)

I've been to Statesville to walk through for the past 5 years. I always come back to see what new things are done. I must say that, even though it didn't scare me, it kept me entertained the entire time. From the moment I walked in every single person stayed in character and didn't stop. I can't even say they didn't stop until the last person because there was no end. It was insane. Even when I left the first house they kept me entertained. From the very beginning to the end every single person was amazing. I've never seen the house as great as it was last night. It was pouring rain and it didn't affect anyone's character or mood, and if it did then it didn't show at all. I loved the whole thing.

i went to statesville two weeks ago and im telling you it was the scariest thing ive ever experienced.every scare factor button in my body was pushed and thats what i think i liked most about it. i am still scared to sleep alone or with the light off. every single room had its own different theme and ever corner you turn new elements are revealed. the actors never broke character once. and the things that came out of their mouth! originality is what comes to mind. there were two rooms in statesville that i think i pissed myself. my boyfriend and i walked into this one room where there were a bunch of little girls just standing there. it was just like the grudge girls but by the end of the room we looked up and there was a girl screaming at us and it scared the shit out of me. then the clowns. of course the clowns. clowns are by far my biggest fear and i swear i peed in that room. cod is a nice touch and no one ever spoke english and that scared me so bad. overall the two houses are by far the best in the chicago area and well worth the money and time.

WOW! We were amazed by this place. Not only was it amazingly done, the actors were great, makeup and lighting was terrifying---but more than that, these guys went above and beyond. I have an injured ankle and currently use a wheelchair or a crutch, and the moment they saw us waiting in line with my crutch they let us in right away--no wait! We were assigned a guide who kept us abreast of any ramps on the floor or anything that would trip me up. What was more--the actors would scare the daylights out of me, then whisper to watch out for a slippery floor in the next room! We were scared out of our wits, AND extremely well cared for at the same time. THANKS STATESVILLE!!!!

Absolutely phenomenal special effects and a great amount of time spent on detail. The characters played their rolls with passion and everyone of them was outstanding. I was very impressed with the acting as well as the overall set up of the haunted house.
